Stitched explores the ambitious, versatile and radical use of stitches in works by twentieth-century and contemporary artists including Alighiero Boetti, Tracey Emin, Sheila Hicks, Do Ho Suh, Henry Moore, Joana Vasconcelos and Francesco Vezzoli.
The exhibition presents sixteen artworks executed in a range of mediums and with a variety of techniques, from modernist practices that challenge hierarchies of high and low, to fibre art that transforms weaving in to a sculptural endeavor, to feminist works that challenge stereotypes around craft and domesticity. The accompanying illustrated catalogue includes an essay by art historian Maddy Henkin.
